Our children are keeping cool in spite of this tremendous heat wave! The Ocean theme this month has everyone thinking of the beautiful big blue sea. The children are happily creating lobsters, octopus, and building sandcastles. The wall mural is coming along quite nicely as well. Beating the heat is no problem with so many water-fun projects to choose from.
Heat Wave!
July 25, 2011Happy New Year!
January 4, 2011Coming off of a wonderful holiday season, we anticipate that 2011 will be a wonderful year. In November the children enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving dinner at the Center wearing their hat creations of pilgrims and indians. While Christmas was commemorated by a dynamic Holiday Show in which each classroom participated by singing songs and reciting poems. Mr. Bill Frye was the musical entertainment and we had a very special surprise when Santa and Mrs. Claus dropped by with gifts for the children. Following the show, everyone enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies!
As we commence the second half of our school year, we look back on the past few months and are thankful so many good memories. We look forward to making many more in the coming months.
Back to School
September 7, 2010Today was the commencement of the 2010-2011 academic school year. The theme for the month of September is From Home to School, fitting for the transition the children are experiencing now. The morningy got off to a great start and the momentum continued throughout the day. It’s a wonderful feeling to see the children growing, maturing, and learning so much. We look forward to the next few months as we establish routines and continue to create a safe, loving, and educative environment for the children to explore.
Take me out to the ball game!
August 3, 2010Freckles & Frills families were invited to attend “Kids Night Out” at the PNC Field on Sunday August 1, 2010. Parents and the children from our Center received complementary entrance tickets, all-you-can-eat vouchers to be redeemed at the concession stand, and red, white, and blue Scranton-Wilkes-Barre Yankees T-shirts. It was great fun for the whole family!
Lobster-mania
July 22, 2010The children enjoyed watching real-life footage of lobsters in their natural habitats, crawling along the ocean floor, thanks to National Geographic for Kids! They then made their own version by crumbling red tissue paper into balls and gluing them to a picture of a lobster. It was lobster-mania!
Underwater world
July 16, 2010Learning about underwater creatures has proven to be an interesting topic. The children have enjoyed learning about crabs, dolphins, sharks, jellyfish, sting rays, sea horses, & starfish to name a few. With warm weather like this it fun to imagine spending some time at the beach !
Franco the Clown…
June 18, 2010Now presenting… Franco the Clown! In celebration of National Juggling Day on June 13th, the children viewed a spectacular show performed by of our own, Francis a 13 year old former student, as he wowed the audience as Franco the Great. Three featured shows, one in the Young Toddler Room, the Older Toddler Room, & the Preschool Room in which his acrobatics and comedy left the children laughing and cheering.
Rain, Rain, Go Away…
June 9, 2010What a rainy, sad, soggy day. The children were unable to go outside today since Mr. Golden Sun was hiding behind the rain clouds, but the weather didn’t stop them from having a great time. Learning about creatures this month has been exciting so far. The children have been exploring the world of dinosaurs, ants, and spiders this week. More fun to come!
Beautiful Day!
May 21, 2010All of the children enjoyed some wonderful outside time today where they were able to feel the sun shining, see the birds flying, and the flowers blooming in the neighborhood. Is there a better way to spend a day?
Fly, Fly Away
May 17, 2010Today our Preschool children set their live butterflies free. They have cared for them since they were caterpillars and watched the process as they made their cocoons and grew into beautiful butterflies. How excited they were to let them spread their wings and fly away!
